Aadhar linked accounts get Rs.16,495.69 crore of benefits

New Delhi, Apr twenty six : Out of the overall cash disbursed in numerous government schemes via direct profit transfer (DBT), a complete of Rs.16,495.69 crore was transferred via Aadhar joined bank accounts, parliament was told on Tuesday.


“Of the overall of Rs.61,824.30 crore disbursed in fifty nine schemes through DBT throughout 2015-16, Rs.16,495.69 crore has been disbursed through Aadhar joined bank accounts,” Minister of Finance Arun Jaitley told the Rajya Sabha in an exceedingly written reply


aadharThe total range of beneficiaries for the Aadhar-linked bank accounts stood at 19.51 crore in 2015-16, he said.


“Eligible beneficiaries of varied schemes however to be lined beneath DBT architecture of Aadhar joined bank accounts, still avail entitled advantages, as per the arrangements applicable before the introduction of DBT,” Jaitley added .


The total range of beneficiaries for the DBT scheme for 2015-16 was 30.78 crore, he said.


More than saving of funds, DBT aims for larger responsibleness and transparency by correct targeting of beneficiaries, plugging leakages, de-duplication and eliminating wastages, the minister of finance explained.
