Chandigarh, Aug 28, 2016: Punjab seeks probe into AAP funding by radicals. The stand-off between Punjab’s ruling Shiromani Akali Dal and new challenger AAP intensified on Sunday with Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal asking Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to analyze all worldwide funding being acquired by AAP, particularly from radical parts overseas.


AAP fundingIn a letter to the union house minister, Badal, who can also be the Punjab Home Minister, sought a direct investigation into the “enormous sum of money being obtained by AAP from overseas”.

“This included funds being despatched into the nation by radical components by way of surrogate organisations. We have to examine these organisations, their supply of funding, the individuals behind them in addition to their agenda for sending funds to AAP,” he stated in his letter.


Badal mentioned this was a “very severe matter as makes an attempt have been being made by some extremist components to disturb the hard-won peace of Punjab”. He stated such components shouldn’t be allowed to succeed at any value, including that the suspected funding was coming from radical parts who have been hell bent on destabilising Punjab earlier than the 2017 meeting elections when Punjab seeks probe into AAP funding by radicals.
