Mumbai, Nov 29, 2016: Ladies will re-enter Haji Ali dargah after 5 years. After 5 years, a collection of authorized battles and agitations, a gaggle of women activists will enter the famous Haji Ali dargah (mausoleum) right here on Tuesday afternoon, an activist stated.

Until June 2012, ladies had been allowed entry upto the sanctum sanctorum comprising the grave (mazaar) of revered Muslim saint, Sayyed Peer Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, however all of the sudden it was stopped.


In 2014, the BMMA and others challenged the transfer of the Haji Ali Dargah Belief within the courts.


On August 26, Justice V.M. Kanade and Justice Revathi Mohite-Dhere had dominated in favour of the petitioners and directed the belief to permit equal entry to girls, which the belief challenged within the Supreme Court when Ladies will re-enter Haji Ali dargah after 5 years.


The Supreme Court on October 24 delivered its verdict on grounds of equal entry to women and men, even because the belief expressed readiness to permit ladies inside until the sanctum sanctorum.


The Belief authorities sought 4 weeks time to make sure infrastructural modifications and alterations to accommodate the ladies devotees, who would now throng the shrine.


Niaz mentioned the ladies would provide floral tributes, ‘chadars’ and pray for peace on the Dargah as we speak as Ladies will re-enter Haji Ali dargah after 5 years.


“It was a combat for equality, ending gender bias and our Constitutional rights. We’re pleased that it has resulted in ladies and men getting equal unrestricted entry proper until the sanctum sanctorum,” Niaz identified.


A trustee of the Dargah, Suhail Khandwani stated that there can be separate entries to the shrine for women and men and henceforth no person could be allowed to the touch the peer’s tomb.


Below the brand new preparations, all devotees would wait and pray practically two metres away from the tomb with rights of equal entry to all when Ladies will re-enter Haji Ali dargah after 5 years.
